The NC AgrAbility Advisory Board, established in January 2012, is dedicated to ensure representation and guidance to accommodate the vast diversity of individuals farming with disabilities and agriculture in North Carolina.
The NC AgrAbility Advisory Board represents the diverse needs of individuals farming with disabilities across the state. The Board’s mission is to assist NC AgrAbility in ensuring appropriate accommodations for services aimed at meeting the needs of NC AgrAbility consumers.
Our Advisory Board is made up of individuals farming with disabilities, farm family members, veterinarians, and representatives from NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, NC Cooperative Extension, NC Farm Bureau, Land Loss Prevention Project, NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, National Arthritis Foundation- Mid-Atlantic Region, NC Centers for Independent Living, NC Division of Services for the Blind, NC AgrAbility Partnership staff and individuals representing agricultural commodities.
Our advisory board typically meets the last Wednesday of January and September unless scheduling requires this date be moved. The Advisory Board does not have any governing authority over the NC AgrAbility work plan, but does provide recommendations, guidance, advocacy, and support as identified under the Roles & Responsibilities Board members serve voluntarily and are responsible for their own travel and accommodations to attend meetings.
