North Carolina AgrAbility Services

Are you struggling mentally or physically to stay working in production farming or are you a Veteran entering into agricultural production in North Carolina? Then, contact us. NC AgrAbility works to improve your quality of life by focusing on four primary goals:

Direct Assistance

NC AgrAbility provides consultations and on-site assessments to identify daily production tasks that are difficult to perform. From what is learned at an on-site assessment, NC AgrAbility will recommend modified work practices, adaptive solutions, equipment, or assistive technology to help complete tasks safely. We also refer resources and help coordinate services such as rehabilitation or financial needs through third-party providers.

Education

If a physical or mental challenge is impacting your ability to farm or work in production agriculture, NC AgrAbility can put you into contact with assistance and resources available in North Carolina. NC AgrAbility educates farmers and farmworkers with physical and mental challenges, Veterans in agriculture, and the agricultural and service provider community through one-on-one meetings, events and presentations, venues, and through the media.

NC AgrAbility also provides statistical information to the National AgrAbility Project to demonstrate the impact that physical and mental challenges have on farmers, farmworkers, and farm families and the impact of AgrAbility.

Outreach

NC AgrAbility works together with stakeholders in the agricultural, Veteran, and service provider community, product manufacturers, and other related communities of interest about the physical and mental needs and struggles of farmers, farmworkers, and Veterans to Agriculture. NC AgrAbility works on behalf of affected farmers, farmworkers, and Veterans to Agriculture to increase their independence and their capacity to engage in production agriculture.

Networking

NC AgrAbility builds relationships with potential partners, service organizations, guilds, associations, rural health clinics, donors, sponsors, and product manufacturers to ensure farmers, ranchers, farmworkers, and Veterans in agriculture have as many resources and connections as possible to continue in production agriculture.

Our services have no fees, and we do not provide funding to start a farm or purchase equipment or assistive technologies. However, we can refer you to available resources.
